Homer Jay Simpson

Voiced by: Dan Castellaneta
Age (on show):30's
Job: Nuclear power plant safety inspector(works in sector 7-G)
Wears: White T-shirt with blue pants
Favorite Activities: Eating, drinking Duff Beer, watching TV.
Characteristics: Fat, bald, lazy, stupid
Phrases: "D'oh!" when angry, "Mmmm...." when tempted, "Can't talk, eating", and "WHY, YOU LITTLE..." (used when he is angry at Bart) ("D'oh" has even made its way into the Oxford English Dictionary)

Homer is the show's main character. He married Marge Bouvier in 1980. (Bart was conceived after Homer and Marge had seen The Empire Strikes Back, which had been released in 1980.) Homer wanted to make Marge an honest woman, so he proposed. The two were married at Shotgun Pete's Wedding Chapel. Shotgun Pete said "And now, by the power vested in me by the Nevada Stage Gambling Commission, I pronounce you husband and wife. Here are 10 dollars in gaming chips. You may now kiss the bride." They later had a second wedding conducted in their home by Reverend Lovejoy. Homer made special vows for the wedding. Read them here. Now they have three kids. Bart (age 10) Lisa (age 8) and Maggie (age 2). Homer is extremely lazy, so he does not do much at work. He is often seen at home drinking beer while watching TV, often in only his underwear. Donuts and pork chops are his favorite foods. Homer is EXTREMELY stupid. (due to the fact that there's a crayon lodged in his brain, along with genetics) In fact, the Simpson men like to run into each other with pots on ther head. Homer's dad, "Grandpa" Abe Simpson, is an old coot living in a retirement home. Homer's mom, known as Mother Simpson, is an old hippie on the run from the law. Homer often hangs out with his friends Lenny and Carl at Moe's Tavern. He strangles his son Bart (Bart never dies: it's a cartoon) when he's angry at him, and the "Homer strangling Bart" segments are one of the classic parts of the show.

Homer has held more jobs than just the nuclear power plant. Some of these are: musician's manager (to Lurleen Lumpkin in8F19), private cop (started up SpringSheild), restaurant critic, bartender, bootleg drink maker (during the Prohibition episode), Gulp'N'Blow service trainee, astronaut (episode 1F13, Deep Space Homer), Internet sensationalist (Mr. X), Mr. Smithers replacement (episode 3F14, Homer The Smithers), boss of the SNPP (Springfield Nuclear Power Plant), and there are probably more.

Homer is sterile from his job working at the nuclear power plant. Also, many people would not call Homer an ideal father.

Homer Quote #1: "Ooh, they have the internet on computers now!"
Homer Quote #2: "Whaaat? You can't prove I did anything"-while drunk, after rescuing the kids from a forest fire who said "Wow, Dad, you saved our lives"
Homer Quote #3: "Lisa, no.......
.....Your hands are too weak!"
-when the entire family wants to strangle Bart and Lisa gets there first
Homer Quote #4: "Cmon, Lenny, your dealing's clocked at only 2 miles an hour"
-Homer, folling around with Marge's radar gun(in the episode where she was a police officer)
Homer Quote #5: "Here turkey turkey turkey, come and join your friends"
-Homer, while hunting. (He had brought a Thanskgiving dinner plate missing the turkey- it had mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc.)

Homer Quote #6 (as read by Reverend Lovejoy): "In richness and in poorness- poorness is underlined, in impotence and in potence, in quiet solitude or zooming over the alkali flats in a jet-powered, monkey-navigated... And it goes on like this"
Homer's self-written vows for the second wedding.

Bart (Bartholomew) J. Simpson

Voiced by: Nancy Cartwright
Age (on show):10
Grade: 4th
Wears: red t-shirt, blue shorts
Favorite Activities: Pulling pranks, skateboarding, annoying Lisa
Characteristics: spiky-haired, cool, prankster, destructive, general troublemaker
Phrases: "Eat my shorts" when defiant, "Don't have a cow, man", "Cool, man"

Bart Simpson is the first and only son of Marge and Homer Simpson, and is the reason they had to get married. Ten years later, Bart is a fourth grader in Edna Krabbappel's class at Springfield Elementary. Bart is best know as a defiant prankster, and he has often had to write lines on the board as punishment. (shown in the show's opening segment) He has often made prank phone calls to Moe's Tavern. Both the board lines and the prank calls are classic parts of the show. Bart is constantly at odds with school principal Seymour Skinner. Bart has inherited some of Homer's stupidity, as his grades are below average. Calls his dad by his first name.

In one of the all-time classic episodes, "Lisa's Wedding", Bart is a 30-year old who enjoys his job operating a wrecking ball.

Bart's attitude was important early in the series as it helped establish FOX as a brash alternative to the Big Three networks.
See the list of prank calls here.
See the list of board writings here.

Bart Quote #1: Whoa! I can't believe they're paying me to destroy stuff!"
-a 25 year old Bart, in his job as a wrecking ball operator
Bart Quote #2: "Relax. I've done it so many times my hand sounds like a cement mixer"
-Bart, after Principal Skinner compains about Bart's order to write the line
"I ain't not a dorkus". Skinner said "This sentence is a grammatical nightmare".
(The kids had overrun the school
Bart Quote #3: "You know, this is the kind of stuff that Mom would never do with me"
-Bart, while playing baseball with Homer (Homer was pitching and Bart had charged the mound)
Bart Quote #4: "Not in the front."
-when his friend Milhous asks him if he's ever ridden in a police car before

Marge Bouvier Simpson

Voiced by: Julie Kavner
Age on show: (30's)
Job: Housewife
Wears: green dress, pearl necklace
Characteristics: tall blue hair, overprotective, thin, worrisome, nagging
Phrases: (frustrated murmur) when, well, frustrated.

Marge was a beautiful girl who managed to catch the eye of one Homer J. Simpson. A decade later, she's an average housewife in suburban America with three kids. She occasionally gets frustrated with being a housewife and gets an out-of-the-house job in some episodes. (See a list of Marge's jobs below) She seems to have resigned in the battle against controlling her husband and son. However, Marge forcing them to is the only reason the other family members go to church.

Marge's jobs: Housewife, police officer, realator

Marge quote #1: "Well, he did triple park."
-Marge as police officer, debating whether to ticket Homer's car
Marge quote #2: "No. I won't do it."
-when a judge tells Homer and Marge to admit they are bad parents (Homer admits it immediately)

Police officer
Realator
Power plant worker (9F05, Marge Gets A Job)

Lisa Marie Simpson

Voice: Yeardley Smith
Age on show: 8
Grade: 2nd
Wears: red dress
Characteristics: intelligent, saxophone player, socially conscious (she is a vegetarian)

Lisa is Marge and Homer Simpson's second child. She is proof that the Simpson stupidity gene affects only Simpson males, since she is extremely intelligent. In fact, there was an entire episode about this "Simpson Gene". Lisa has done such things as build robots, and breed life in a Petri dish. She is a "teacher's pet" and is Principal Skinner's favorite student. (I wonder why she hasn't been promoted to at least the third grade.) Lisa is also an excellent sax player, due to the work of her mentor, the late "Bleeding Gums Murphy". Lisa is socially concious, perhaps too much so. She turned down a $1,200,000 check from Montgomery Burns because he had gotten the money by killing sea creatures. Lisa is a member of P.T.T.E.T.A. (Preteens for The Ethical Treatment of Animals) One time she even "tree-sat" to save a redwood. She is indeed a vegetarian. She does play with "Malibu Stacey" dolls.

Maggie (Margaret) Simpson

Voiced by: none (is a baby)
However, she once said "Daddy" at the end of an episode. This was voiced by Liz Taylor.
Age on show: 2
Wears: blue baby suit

Maggie seems like a typical baby. She likes sucking contentedly on her pacifier. However, she posseses a stash of guns. One time, she used one to save Homer's life when mobsters attacked him. Maggie has also unintentionally shot Mr. Burns. Also, she's really half alien. An alien had impregnated Marge (at least according to a Treehouse of Horror episode, which are considered noncanonical).
